Diesel Locomotives
'Flying Dragon'
47338 "Flying Dragon" was the 4th 47 constructed by Brian, in 1997, shortly before the move to Wyevale. It is based on the ubiquitous 2,750hp Class 47 built by Brush during the 60's and 70's for BR as a powerful general-purpose diesel locomotive. Flying Dragon is powered by a 9hp Villiers petrol engine and driving an Eaton 7 hydraulic gearbox. It is the first loco of choice for the railway; consequently it sees a very high mileage every year; in excess of 5000 trips every year. It is also the first locomotive that drivers are trained on.
It alongside D1015 'Western Champion' is a regular runner at the DMR.

'Western Champion'
D1015 "Western Champion" was built by Brian in 1993 for work at Brookside miniature railway. At the time it was the most powerful locomotive on the line and also boast’s air brakes. It is based on the BR Class 52 " Western "a class of diesel-hydraulics built at Swindon and Crewe during the 1960's for use on the Western Region of British Railways from Paddington to Penzance. In 1999 Western Champion moved to DMR and see's regular use alongside Flying Dragon. Western Champion is powered by a 9hp Loncin engine driving an Eaton 7 hydraulic Gearbox. It along with 47338 'Flying Dragon' is one of the regular runners.
In 2022 it was withdrawn from service for a repaint and service and it looks just as good as it did in it's heyday.

'Clayton'
D8608 ‘Clayton’ as it is known was built by Brian and finished in October 2010, It is based on the Clayton class built by Clayton Equipment and Beyer Peacock between 1962 - 1965 for British Railways. The clayton didn't actually start life as it is today, the loco was destined to be a 6th 47 being built by Brian but his son Andrew suggested to make the clayton instead for something a little different, the body shell for the 6th 47 was sold on and the chassis was used for the clayton. The Clayton is powered by a 9hp Honda engine driving an Eaton 7 hydraulic gearbox.
In 2022 it was given a repaint and service and then stood in for 'Western Champion' when it went for a repaint and again for 'Flying Dragon' whilst it had some maintenance. Clayton is usually used more around Christmas usually on the ordinary trains whilst the steam locomotives are being lit up.

'Andrew'
D5903 ‘Andrew’ was the first locomotive built by Brian in 1983 named after his son Andrew. The loco is based on BR's class 23 ‘Baby Deltic’ built by the English Electric company in 1959, this model of a Baby Deltic spent 15 years hard work at Brookside without failing once, covering on average 500 miles every year. Andrew is used less often and mainly stands in for other loco's being repaired although makes appearances during off peak times and at Halloween and Christmas. Andrew is powered by a 5hp Loncin engine driving an Eaton 7 hydraulic gearbox.

'David'
No. 2 "David" was a joint build between Brian and another Brookside volunteer Norman Pendlebury. It worked at Brookside alongside "Andrew" and D1015 until Norman left in the late 90's. David laid out of use at Brookside until 2004 when it moved to the DMR. When David arrived the loco was extended in order to accommodate taller drivers. David is powered by a 9hp Loncin engine driving an Eaton 7 Hydraulic gearbox.
In March 2022 David returned to regular service after a few repairs as a spare engine and has seen regular use since.

'Anne'
No.2 'Anne' is the latest diesel owned by the railway and the second diesel locomotive to carry No.2. She used to at Manor Park as maintenance loco and was later one of the first engines to run at Brookside after the line had been converted from 5 inch gauge to 71/4 gauge. She ran alongside Princess (then in green) and a Class 35 Hymek; Anne left Brookside over 30 years ago and she was put into storage. On 20th of November 2022 Anne joined the DMR as the sixth diesel locomotive in our fleet and in that time has been undergoing maintenance and tests. She entered service on Saturday 4th March 2023 and has now become apart of the diesel roster. Anne has been undergoing a repaint to make her look new again this was completed on 28th May and she is now going into traffic.

'Centaur'
Centaur is the newest diesel to the fleet and is the first privately owned diesel locomotive to join the DMR. Centaur started life as a Tinkerbell steam locomotive working at North Weald Miniature Railway before moving to Skegness Beach run. It was later bought by it's builder S Campbell who strip the loco and reused the chassis of the original engine to create this engine; which was originally supposed to run at Grantown East Miniature Railway, Inverness but it was closed down and the loco was sold on to Thompsons Park Miniature Railway sometime in 2023. On 11th of May 2024 Centaur left Thompson Park and came to the DMR, the loco is currently undergoing some cosmetic test runs before entering traffic alongside it's compatriots.
Centaur is built to the design of a Ruston built narrow gauge shunter but with a few small modifications added. Centaur is powered by a 6.5hp LiFan Diesel Engine driving a ADAN hydraulic motor driving a chain to both axels, it also has air brakes.
